One is the Loneliest Number

Yesterday E had dance. On those days B usually goes to play at his friend C's house because he seriously hates having to go with us to take E to dance. After dance E wanted to play with her cousin A who lives in Bountiful. A's Mom said that M could just pick her up on his way home from work. That left me with about 4 hours of alone time.
What was I going to do with myself?!? My house was already clean, I didn't need to do any shopping, I didn't have any current sewing projects. I was seriously feeling sad! I can't even imagine what I will do when both B and E are in school full time! I sure hope that we are blessed with another baby before that day comes because I was LONELY!
I have dreamed about having hours to sit at home by myself and enjoy the quiet, but it really wasn't that great! I missed having E chatter away in the background. I really love my kids!
I could have done something constructive, but instead I sat with my laptop and read what Stephanie Meyer had published of Midnight Sun. I know, lame huh? But it was a good time filler. It will be so weird some day when my kids don't need me so much. I can't even imagine it! I guess it will be OK. I just need a little time to mentally prepare myself.

Our St. George Trip

On Valentine's Weekend we went to stay at M's brother's house in St. George. We hadn't been down there since B was a newborn. We had lots of fun.

A dinosaur footprint at Johnson's Farm Dinosaur Museum. It wasn't quite as much fun as the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point, but of course B enjoyed it.

B pointing out a dinosaur skull.

We also went to Zion's and did a little hiking. This is a picture from under Weeping Rock.

E's Dance Recital

E had her first dance recital. Her studio did Swan Lake. She was a star. The cutest darn star you have ever seen.

B was a trouper to sit through her recital. Here he is trying to look like a ballerina.

Here's E on stage.

Backstage before the show.

Way to go E!

What I like about You!

I know Valentine's Day is past, but I didn't want to pass up an opportunity to write what I love about my kids and husband.

B:
*He has strong emotions. When he is happy he is really happy and when he is mad he is really mad. I like it best when he is really happy.
*He loves to make people laugh.
*He plays really cute pretend games with his sister.
*He is very artistic and good at figuring out how to make things work.

E:
*She tries so hard to keep up with her brother. She is usually right by his side.
*She plays by her self so well. It is a big help for me.
*She is very sensitive to how other people are feeling. She always tries to make people feel better.
*She loves singing and dancing and is really pretty good at singing. She memorizes lyrics really quickly.

M:
*He is such a cute Daddy! He has so much fun with our kids and really likes playing with them.
*He is so sensitive to my needs. He is more than happy to have the kids by himself while I get a little unwind time.
*He is always thinking of me. He brings home things that he thinks I will like all the time. Like dessert from where he went to lunch.
*He has the cutest smile!! I seriously still melt every time he smiles! He is also hilarious!

Sorry for the sappiness, but it's all true! I love my family and couldn't ask for anything or anyone better!

Ski Bunnies

M and I took the kids skiing. It probably wasn't the best day for it, considering the gale force winds and snow, but we all still had a good time once we got on the mountain. It's a whole lot of gear to keep track of, though when there are 4 pairs of skis and all the warm gear etc! Next time we will have them go to a class. We figure they probably wouldn't whine as much for strangers.

Three Special Steps

Me: B, do you remember why I am buying you a toy at the store today?
B: Yes. Because I did three special steps.
Me: Not quite.
B: Oh. Well I like three specials steps better.

Do you think he has been watching a little too much TV lately? :) Those with kids who watch Disney Channel on TV will get it.
I bought B a toy at the store because he go all three's on his report card. That is the best he can get. He got all three's last term too. I do understand that is is Kindergarten, but I am still really proud of him.

Creative Outlet

I have been feeling the need to be creative lately. Here are some of the projects that I have been working on:

A dress/smock for E. I was pretty proud of myself because I made this without a pattern. Nice silly face, huh?

Hair clips. I am not sure that I really have a future in this, but it did fill my creative quota.

I made this quilt for B's kindergarten teacher. She was diagnosed with cancer again this year after having breast cancer last year. This was her Christmas present. B was really proud to give her this for Christmas.

For anyone who sews, do you have any ideas for things to make for boys? B kind of feels left out because I never make anything for him. There really just isn't anything to make for boys that isn't fru-fru or 80's looking. Oh well. I guess he'll just have to deal with it.
